DC is in a London hospital waiting for a space in an adolescent psych unit due to attempt on life and severe SH. Has anyone had experience of a unit? We are all quite nervous

Understandable You’ll be feeling anxious, with lots of what ifs. My experience is work related
Tier 4 CAMHS admission.
initially your child will be closely observed to maintain safety and provide reassurance
The young person will be admitted to inpatient unit for observation and assessment. Medical, nursing and therapy . Consider commence medications or review the existing medication
Get allocated a named worker and you’ll be invited to ward round and meetings. You’ll meet the team and they’ll ask you about your young person eg recent events, potential triggers, social and mental health. Their preferences, food, music, interests

Wishing you and your young person well
