Can anyone tell me what the definition of being in care or a care leaver is?

If someone got looked after by a relative, say auntie or uncle or nan and not by the parent would the child be classed as being in care/a care leaver?

It depends how this arrangement came about. Is social services involved?

That’s kinship care if it’s a formal agreement

If social services were involved, then yes

If done formally through social services then yes probably a section 20 order. If done informally through the family then no. It all depends if a care order was issued through the court.
