Hi everyone
my daughter (8) is currently refusing to go to school, she’s on the adhd asd pathway, she’s currently had 2 weeks off, what should
school put this absence down as? Her school have said it’s unauthorised? Is that right? Thanks for all your help

I have a friend who's been through this. Don't say she's refusing to go to school - she's off with extreme anxiety and overwhelm. Schools apparently have a tendency to leap on to "school refusal" as a reason to put the blame on the child and parent.

I would say moving forward that she's "unable to come in" due to above.

They count it as unauthorised unless there's a diagnosis with a report saying that this will be likely, or it comes with a GP note
