Hi,
I have an 11 year old boy who’s started high school in September. His mood seems very low and he appears to suffer with what I think is anxiety. He hates school, doesn’t like anyone or anything. Will not join any clubs says he can’t make friends. It’s a struggle to get him to school everyday but he goes and seems fine when he’s there but struggles to make friends. He used to be such an outgoing and happy kid. I dont no what to do for the best for him. Anybody got any advice? Thank you

Have you spoken with the school? A transition to secondary school can be overwhelming. Does he have a phone - is he being bullied?

I spoke to school when he first started because he didn’t like lessons such as drama where he had to do things in front of other children ( I guess that’s anxiety) and they backed off a little from him so he was happy about that. He does have a phone but rarely uses it. I’ve asked him about bullying he’s adamant he’s not. He has 2 sisters at school too and they just say he’s quiet and has 1 friend (which is the same 1 friend he had in primary school). I guess I’m more concerned because he was never like this when younger if that makes sense, he was a funny outgoing comical kid always doing silly things to make anyone laugh. But now he’s just the opposite. It’s really sad to see. When I ask him how he feels he just says he doesn’t no and he just doesn’t like anyone or anything. His confidence seems low and he says he wishes he was different but I don’t no how to help him.
