My daughter is struggling with her mental health, she has had sessions with early break and has been referred to Cahms. We are waiting on sessions with Cahms to help with my daughter’s mental health and also an appointment to fill in a development questionnaire to start the process of assessing her for autism. I have applied for dla on the 30th sep 2024, which I am still waiting on a decision. How long does this take and also what is the average rate. I have to keep having time of work, as I have to collect her from school frequently. Because of this I am not meeting the criteria and UC are on my case. I feel as I am stuck, as there is nothing I can do. If I receive dla with the job centre back off? Also would we be entitled to mobility? As she has no sense of danger and I have to drive my daughter everywhere. Sorry for the long post.

It takes about 16 weeks to hear whether you have an award. If your child is awarded middle rate care or above you would be entitled to carers element which would turn off work committments. There isn't a standard award as such it all depends on needs and evidence of needs. Mobility comes in two rates to get high rate your child would need to be unable or virtually unable to walk or satisfy each point with evidence on the severe mental impairment flowchart here HRM - Severely Mentally Impaired With Severe Behavioural Problems (SMI)
