I made a referral yesterday online for DC for OCD. Can anyone give me a rough idea of current waiting times please? We are in rural South West

Ours was about 12 months I think in London. And I rang and rang and went to A&E emergency mental health department on one occasion. There is a priority list system so it is dependent on how severe the problems are. I could see her deteriorating and it was so frustrating. I hope things are better where you live. My DD is now on medication and has art therapy through CAHMS. Her anxiety has improved but OCD is still difficult.

We're in North Devon and recently requested anxiety support for our primary aged child. Self-referred in may and they phoned in August and the first CBT session was in September. Hope it's a nice short wait for you too!

We waited just over 10 months for my son to get seen. And he was on the priority list apparently

Your initial assessment will be between 4 and 12 weeks. If it is actual OCD, then you'll likely get a manualised treatment and that's usually also a short wait. If it is a less clear formulation, or there's attachment traumas, you'll have to wait a while.

Thank you everyone
