My son never seems to be happy

My son is 10 and is whingy, negative and frustrated at the flick of a switch. He always has been like this! The high pitched whinging and negativity is soul destroying for me sometimes and takes it's toll on me.
We've always worked on open conversation, talk about feelings, emotional regulation and resilience... it just feels like nothing is good enough and hes never happy. School do emotional regulation and resilience as well.

Has anyone any tips for him and me? Thanks

If he's always been like that, he might just have a glass half empty personality. If you've checked there's nothing behind it, like bullying at school or something, then I'd explain to him that people prefer the company of positive people and put limits on the complaining.
