Hi all. My son is 12. ADHD diagnosed in 2022 and been on Medikinet 20mg for some time. No change in behaviour so we upped it to 30 which gave him severe tics, reduced to 25mg and was the same.
So we were changed to Elvanse 20mg and he had the first one today so I could see how he reacted. He was very hyper for the first hour. Then settled down and actually done all of his homework!! Very chilled and focused.
But his come down has caused his head to shake and his fingers to feel tingly.

Will this go away do you think?
How was your child?

I'd really appreciate any insight

Hi OP
We changed from Xaggitin (but have had Medikinet in the past) to Elvanse about 5 months ago. My child is an older teen and we had been waiting to switch to Elvanse for some time but were delayed due to the shortages.

We've found the transition smooth but are on a higher dose than you - 50 then 60. Each brand of the drug can affect you differently; we switched from Medikinet to Xaggitin due to the side effects on the digestive system so if you are experiencing any weirdness speak to your paed who might try a different brand.

Thank you @Pr0fessionalLurker. Nice to hear it was a smooth transition.

My dd 14 started on 30mg and it has definitely worked but wasn’t lasting the full school day and she was really disregulated for the last period. Moved up to 40mg and it made her feel hyper and emotional.

she’s back on 30mg but I think we will end up going to 40 again

issue we have is that she struggles to sleep now
