Does he have an EHCP? It's not too late to apply for one if not, they can run right up til the young persons turns 26 and will help you get him the right provision (not just academically educational but things like preparing for adulthood programmes or travel training).

No ehcp apparently he's not autistic enough and he went to two good schools with very good support, he's high functioning aspergers, he's applying for jobs but he fills the application forms in very basic one word answers and won't let me or his mum help

But he's now 17, struggling, and NEET - so whoever said 'not autistic enough' can shove their ignorance because clearly he needs additional support. I would put in a parental request for an EHCP and be prepared to fight. What level qualification did he leave college with? What are his aspirations?

He got a foundation course which is basically a gcse in maths English he also did cooking and basic living, he did sign up for another year but couldn't cope with new students so he left, he did get pip but lost it when he turned 16 because he wanted to do the telephone interview himself, which was a big mistake because he wants to be normal he told them he was capable on all the questions so he scored zero on them all

I second this. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you/DS can use.

Contact your local careers service for young people too.

Also reapply for PIP and request to become DS’s appointee.
