Autism assessment not at school

My daughter is ? Autistic, pending diagnosis, and because she isn't at school at the moment due to poor mental health, school are saying they can't sign the autistic assessment forms due to them not seeing her enough

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is there another way to be assessed? We don't want to go private due to the diagnosis not being recognised everywhere

In most areas your gp can refer to CAMHS.

GP can refer to community Paeds or CAMHS - both diagnose here.

If you pay for a private assessment with a reputable organisation then they are going to be following NICE approved assessment guidelines. They often will add extra. They can't just make it up. A reputable organisation will support any challenges to their diagnosis. I'd have more faith in their expertise than CAMHS
If any school challenges this you can ask based upon which legislation or policy seeing as they are following NICE guidance?
I'd school aren't on board I fear you may struggle to even get an assessment. This is just part of the gaslighting to try fob you off/ get rid of you. They know full well that a private assessment will be valid.

My daughter was referred by GP without any involvement from school. However the waiting list was so long we did end up going private in the end. The GP said as long as the assessment follows NICE guidelines they would accept it.
