How to help overcome a phobia

DD2, age 11, has a bad phobia of pus and disease. She fainted in class yesterday as they were learning about the Black Death and played the horrible histories song about it. She felt nauseous, hot and dizzy and then fainted when she got up. She has a similar reaction whenever anything disease related is mentioned but usually we can just change the subject.

Is there any point going to the GP about this? Would CBT or hypnotherapy help? Or is there something I can do at home to help?
