Ds2 is 15. He has suspected ASD but the waiting list is long. When he was 12 he took an overdose. He messaged 2 of his friends and one of them told her parents, who told the school, who told me. He ended up in resus in a and e with the children's hospital on standby and those orange rubber things on his chest in case they needed to shock him like they do on casualty. He was very lucky and after a night in hdu he was physically ok. He was assessed by camhs and they said they couldn't help him as he cried whenever they tried to talk to him. School tried as well but he wouldn't talk to the autism specialist TA either. I felt very scared and alone. Mine and dh's families were sympathetic at first but after a few weeks considered it to be in the past and no longer a concern.
2.5 years later I am finally getting a bit less scared that he will do it again. Then on Friday I get a message on facebook from one of his friends saying he had said on their group chat thing that they would probably never see him again and then logged off. He wasn't replying and his friends were really worried. Dc2 had gone to his grandparents so I phoned him there and first he said he never wrote it but when I told him I was looking at what he wrote on the chat then he admitted he wrote it but said he meant to say that they wouldn't see him until he got back from his grandparents house. I'm not sure what to think and now I'm back to panicking that he is going to try and kill himself again.
