Just trying to work out if my expectations are too high and/or I’m being unreasonable. After several incidents involving police and A&E visits since May with an escalation at the end of August, we have been contacted by CAMHS who have agreed to see DD (12). We were phoned at 9 in the morning last week with an offer to see DD on the same day at 14.40. We’ve had a difficult summer and it was her first day back at school. She was looking forward to going back. I was very reluctant to pull her out on Day 1 with no chance to discuss the appointment with her in advance so I declined it. It has transpired that the system in place where we are works this way and no other - you are offered only same day appointments which take place in school time. There are no sessions after 15.00 and it’s either same day or a 12 week wait. Is this the case everywhere? It seems utterly self-defeating to insist on a process likely to cause anxiety to young people who are already suffering.
