Ocd in kids

I'm hoping for some advice. I have a 10 year old son who has suffered from anxiety in the past (mainly separation anxiety) resolved with cbt.

He has started to show ocd type behaviours. He has become very anxious about death after losing a family member.

I have contacted a therapist and he is on the waiting list for an appointment but I'm wondering what's best to do while we wait.

Do we completely ignore his behaviours (touching stuff with each hand mainly) or do we address them and try to get him to stop/delay doing it?

I don't want to be doing the wrong thing and make it worse.

Any help would be appreciated!

Could you contact others for advice in the meantime such as your GP, school? They might be able to get advice from a therapist to pass onto you
It must be very difficult for you not knowing what to do to help him

I've spoken to his teachers and also the therapists who he is on the waiting list for. They gave me a website to look at which makes lots of sense but doesn't really apply to what he is doing as he is doing it all the time not just in certain circumstances so is hard to know what to do if that makes sense. Hoping he gets seen quickly!
