Anti depressant / anti anxiety meds

My DD (aged 9) is suffering with heightening anxiety and depression. She has been on the waitlist for 15 mths for an adhd assessment (was told in sep She'd be seen around nov but now sounding like it may be a little longer).
In recent months the anxiety and depression has increased and this last couple of weeks it seems to be escalating daily to the point I'm getting very worried.
I and school have raised to CAMHs in case they can shift around the appointments - but in the meantime might the GP be able to prescribe something for the depression and anxiety? Or can only a psychiatrist do that? And for a general psychiatrist is it the same long waits as the assessment waitlists?

Thanks!

Is there any way you could go for a private ADHD assessment? If you are able to do so then the specialist refers you back to the NHS system so you are then covered. My daughter was incredibly anxious and sad and it impacted all of us in the family before she started taking her ADHD medication. Now she is a happy, content little kid albeit still quirky!

Will someone privately see her that quickly? Or are there waitlists privately too? I as picturing they could both come at the same time...
