Adhd and coming off meds

Can someone reassure me about how a teen comes off adhd meds. My son is on 70mg of Elvanse daily. Is it easy to stop taking it if he feels he doesn’t want it anymore, and how is that achieved safely?

My son takes Medikinet and only medicated on school days. School holidays and weekends he doesn't take them. His CAHMS consultant said this was fine as it has a wear off time and is taken as a new start each day.

We are at a similar stage with him now starting 6th Form/College and not wanting to take it after the whole summer not taking it. He says it makes him not feel like speaking to anyone as well as not eating. The speaking and socialising aspect is important because he also has autism, so struggles with this at the best of times.

I am going to let him decide for the moment and let support staff know, so if he starts struggling they will know why and we can discuss it.

I would just let your son's Dr or whoever prescribes it know, so they can guide you for the drug he is taking.

Good luck.
