Would cheer me up to hear some positive stories 😌

I can only comment as a practitioner, but yes seen plenty of adolescents recover from a severe depressive episode, a combination of just therapy (CBT, behavioural activation) and/ medication, as well as a supportive team of adults around them (parents, carers, teachers, social workers if needed).
