I can’t get him to divulge much but he wants help. Think it’s thoughts, distraction more than tapping type of thing.

Aware we’ll need to go private as wait will be too long, need to try to get him something before his exams.

How do you get a good private assessment and treatment?

I would also check with the school what he will be entitled to even if you get a diagnosis in the next few weeks. When Dd was diagnosed with dyslexia I seem to remember there being some daft rule where they will only get extra time (or whatever is needed) if they can demonstrate they’ve consistently needed this extra allowance during the school year.

Maybe the teacher who told me this got it wrong but they were certainly under the impression with a late diagnosis no allowance will be made for the official exams because the child will be deemed to have managed without the allowance before. Which seems totally bonkers. Hopefully that teacher was wrong??
