Teenager with severe OCD. Been referred to CAMHs but we know the process could take a long time. We've had a psychiatric assessment and our boy needs urgent help but I can't find anybody public or private. The earliest date I can get is June and this is too far away for a family in crisis. Does anybody have any recommendations of anywhere we can try near Watford please?
TIA

My 10 year old DS has severe OCD which is currently taking over our lives. Usually OCD needs CBT but I couldn’t find anyone privately who would take him on due to his age. However one of them suggested hypnotherapy, we are on our second session and hoping this will be a turning point. I can’t tell you if it’s working as it’s early days but wanted to let you know that this could be an option Incase you hadn’t considered it before (I didn’t) you have my sympathy, it is so hard

Thank you @WhatYouTalkinBout for replying. I am the aunty in this situation but my poor sister is beside herself and can't get help anywhere. She's totally burnt out by it and utterly desperate. It's having such a huge impact on his siblings too and she's at breaking point so I'm trying to find some help.
I'm very sorry to hear your son is suffering too. I'm a teacher and have taught a pupil who had support through CAMHS when they were at primary school. I hope the hypnotherapy helps. I will pass this on to my sister.

Oh poor you! Pls try Dr Georgina Hibbert. She says she is booked up for new referrals but, I she will speak to you on phone and I also know that in the practice where she works, there a number of other Clinical psychologists. They are based in Elstree, Borehamwood.

Rummikub · 02/02/2022 21:21
