I wanted to tell my DDs story which may give hope to someone who is struggling
DD 14. School refuser, under CAHMS for anxiety, self harming, hearing voices, assessed for psychosis, took her out of school year 9, home schooling but stopped even that most of year 10 because she couldn't cope with anything, running out of the house found by passerby hallucinating and blood dripping from her wrists, A and E, almost sectioned. Me on antidepressants with the worry of whether she'll even be alive at 16.
Today. She's 18, did her GCSES, sixth form, got a job, boyfriend, learning to drive, A level results day today A*BB. Most important of all- Happy.
I'm so proud of her for what she's been through and what she's achieved. Still gets a bit stressed about stuff but she's got coping techniques and she's ok. Looking back it's easy to forget how horrible and frightening it was when she was 13/14, but I'm so grateful she is where she is now.
I hope this helps anyone who is going through it with their DC.
There can be light at the end of the tunnel x
