Anyone experience with bipolar?

Hi,

A brief background, my 15 year old daughter appeared fine until February, when she told her school that she was suicidal. In hindsight, there have been highs and lows before but this time it really came out of the blue.

We went private and have had a roller coaster of a few months. She was initially prescribed melatonin to help sleep and citralopram as an antidepressant. Which increased the suicidal thoughts and a couple of nights in hospital. Citralopram stopped and started respiridone. Which stabilised the swings from hyper to very low but stayed low.

About a fortnight ago she started amtriptyline but same effects as citralopram and suicidal thoughts came straight back. That was stopped and we are now trying lamotrigine.

Just wondering is anyone has been through similar.

there is a lot of support from the uk charity bipolaruk
it can take a while to get the meds right - you do seem to have had a few already - it takes time....

Thanks, I will check it out.

I am worn out today, I need to be strong enough for both of us but feel totally drained. I have a headache, I have 101 things to do (including walking the dogs which really helps my daughter) but I just want to say fuck it all and go to bed!

Anyone had personal experience of bipolar or parenting a young adult with bipolar?
