My DD is currently in therapy for anxiety (stage 2 CAMHS) brought about due to trauma. It’s typically manifested itself with controlling her environment (not wanting to go out, fear of travel by car/train, opting out of social events, nightmares) She’s Recently started talking about “wishing she wasn’t here”, “wishing she could die” and is extremely tearful. I spoke with her therapist who reassured me that this isn’t unusual. I’m trying to tell myself that it’s just her way of trying to articulate how sad/scared she is and she doesn’t really mean it but I’m scared (I don’t believe she is a risk to herself). Anybody have any experience, words of support/advice? TIA

My 10 yo went through a phase of saying this after a bit of bullying lead to low self esteem. Was horrible to go through and has massively affected my mental health too. Dr's no help, but the school put into place several sessions and since then dealing with it much better.

You're doing the right thing, and I'm sure the therapy will help.
