Hello, my daughter has severe anxiety. It is a long story and I'll not go into too much. It's heartbreaking. She's lost weight, the weight of an 8 year old, has no friends, hates school, won't open up, teachers are shit and come have been cruel, had "friendship" issues. She's had useless CBT counsellors, ELSA, just been referred to CAHMS. Nothing is helping her. Doctor before Christmas refused to give her any medicine for it. Please can anyone give me advice on what drugs work, if any ? We've had enough, we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry if I sound cold, I'm not....just heartbroken and in despair....... In year 10 so critical year coming up, although we're not applying any pressure, we know her mental health is more important that academics.....

8 meant to say some teachers have been cruel about her quietness. She has no self-esteem and confidence.

I think setraline is what is generally dispensed for anxiety in children. Can make things worse to start with, then settles things down.

Is her school placement failing (refusing to attend/ falling behind etc). If so, you can apply for an EHCP under 'social, emotional and mental health' needs.

Thanks reefedsail. Ill look at EHCP. I think we'll push for setraline with docs...... xx
