Morning
I have a nine year old boy who can appear perfectly typical on meeting however he has sometimes been tricky and difficult to parent at home.
He can have meltdowns etc and difficulty socialising if things don’t go his was or if he gets hurt.
He has now started to have huge problems at school.
He was premature 34 weeks, did everything at least 6 months after his siblings did.
He has severe dyslexia, reading and writing at 5 yr old level.
He has very little emotional regulation, any embarrassment overstimulation or physical pain ie falling over can trigger a meltdown.
He still sometimes withholds poo and ends up constipated/ soiling.
School have been very supportive however since November he has been having huge violent meltdowns at school.
He has tried to run off and climb over things.
I have now had to go and collect him on many occasions.
Yesterday he kicked a ta who was trying to deal with a playground incident. I am devastated.
We have temporarily removed him from school for his and their safety.
He has a calmhs referral, but don’t yet know how long that will take.
We are seeing the go tomorrow.
Do any of you wise parents have any other ideas? About how to help or manage this situation?
Thanks for reading.
