Destroying socks

My 7 year old son has started making holes in his socks whilst at school. He does it in "circle time". I have asked him why he does it and he says he is bored. He is a happy child and gets great feedback from his teacher on his attitude in class. Anyone had experience of this habit? Thanks

I dont really think this is a mental health problem! Its just a fiddle thing, see if you can get something else he can fiddle with and tell him not to rip his socks! Get him nice socks with his favoutite character hiding on them somewhere ( but still grey for school).
