Need advice about my 17 year old son

I'm just looking for some advice about my son. Hes 17 and for the last couple months has been really struggling with mental health. We have spent a couple of nights in a&e due to him trying to take his life on one occasion and harming himself on another. He is now under the GP on medication and under camhs.

He has had a0 girlfriend the last 6 months that also has mental health issues and diagnosed psychosis. Hes rarely been making it to college for the last 2 months but manages to go to his girlfriends regular or her stay here. He says he needs her shes the only one that can make him better.

I decided this week to tell him no college as hes already behind so much then no going to see his girlfriend. He wouldn't go again today so I've stuck to what I said and hes now basically telling me if I dont let him go for the weekend I will make him worse he will harm himself and wont even survive until Monday.

I feel like hes using his mental health against me and I dont know what to do. If I back down he will just stay in bed not go college and know he can use this against me to constantly get his way.

Any advice would be very much appreciated x

Perhaps college is not right for him right now
But that is totally separate for the girlfriend- it's good to get peer support but putting everything on one person (especially one that is unwell herself) is really unhealthy.

I would stick to your guns on the maintaining of boundaries. If he makes threats take them seriously every time.

He can't close the bedroom/bathroom door, must be supervised with sharp objects etc. This is what they will do in hospital if he's admitted. So it might be a wake up call.

Is he accessing therapy?
Are there any support groups locally?
