Dear all

Hoping for some helpful suggestions and ideas here.

A very good friend has a 17yr old with anorexia (diagnosed about 2 months ago). Child has had a lifelong physical condition which has meant they've never been able to eat much and has always been skinny and lacking energy. A big op last year has pretty much solved the condition but now it seems like it has all got too much and they are suicidal and refusing to eat.

In and out of hospital, worry about heart and blood pressure. I have known this child since birth but am at a complete loss as to how best to support my friend and the family. They don't want to be sectioned. I know so little about ED and don't want to sound crass but other than offering my supportive ear, is there anything I and other friends can do?

Any good websites you can recommend as well? Thank you so much Thanks

Beat is a good website and you can get books that help families of sufferers from the library or Amazon.

Thanks, had a look and it does have good stuff, especially about "what not to say". Will share with other concerned friends.
