PDA and school refusal. Any advice?
Bookrat · 24/10/2018 11:54
My DD has been involved with CAMHS for over a year now. Initially it was for self-harm which started when she was eleven. Then the school refusal started, anxiety and depression were diagnosed, and she has recently been prescribed anti-depressants. Because she has an older sibling with a diagnosis of autism she was screened some time ago and the result was negative. However, her CAMHS contact has recently said that she thinks DD is autistic, and then school said yesterday that DD may have pathological demand avoidance. Putting everything together PDA seems more likely than not. I would be grateful for any advice on how to help my DD get an education. She's a capable kid with ambitions but those things seem to be slipping away.
