We have finally got a referral to CAMHS for my 13 year old DS who has a history of flying in to a rage, such that he gave a friend a concussion earlier this year, can be very aggressive towards his brother and has twice recently had to be restrained at home by me and DH. He displays other behaviours which we have always felt put him on the spectrum but we are most concerned about his inability to control his temper - especially as reaches puberty. When he was little we could kind of contain him but he is already taller than me and will soon be taller than his dad. If something should happen at school it would be a matter for the police and we have explained this to him.
The biggest problem will be getting him there. We have taken him to see a private counsellor in the past but he refused to speak or even look at her, I also managed to get him to the GP but again he wouldn't engage. He now says he won't attend the CAMHS appointment. Can anyone offer any advice on this and approaches to try?
