DD has been skin picking for almost a year now .
It started off as just picking a scab on her hand but then I noticed it wasn't healing .
She then rotated to her legs , then arms and bottom and more recently her head . We've talked about it and she said she wanted me to help her stop.... seemed relieved to talk about it too .
We tried a bracelet to fiddle with initially that worked for a while .
She does seem to be a real worrier more than I would say is normal . Particularly health related .
Anyway we have an appointment to see GP at the end of the month and I was going to ask for a referral initially for CBT .
Stopping the picking is one thing but I think she needs to deal with what the cause , ie , if anxiety how to deal with this .
I am a healthy professional and very informed regarding adult mental health but completely lose all perspective when it's my own dc iykwim .
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone whose experiences similar with dc and what you found helpful .
TIA
