Dd is 14 and has Aspergers, she’s always struggle with anxiety but recently it’s effecting her more. Most of it is anxiety around school (homework not being done on time, having to speak in front of others and teachers expecting more from her), the last few weeks we have had issues with one teacher in particular. Dd has some mobility issues and is often in pain, a new supply teacher has been quite nasty too her, making her do things she finds painful and humiliating her when she can’t do it, I will be talking to the school after half term. She’s also struggling to organise her homework and get it handed in on time, she then gets anxious about getting in trouble.

This morning we were talking about ways of coping with her anxiety and she asked about getting medication. I’m not keen on this idea. I suffer from anxiety myself and have never had good expereance with medication. Is she too young to be looking at medication? Should I seek help from our gp?

I'd let the GP decide what she needs tbh. If you need it, you're not too young. But the GP will know best, there isn't much point in speculating about drugs until you've seen a professional.

I think it's brilliant that she's asked for help.
