My only daughter started her periods just after she turned 10, about 6 months ago. She is tall and well developed and it's easy to forget she's only 10.
She is constantly saying she is fat and ugly, pinching her (non-existent) tummy and saying she has fat thighs. Naturally, I tell her this is nonsense, and I don't obsess over my own weight or appearance in her presence.
Recently she cries for seemingly no reason and says she can't tell me what's wrong. She is really rude to her grandparents and me, torments our cat when she's bored, refuses to shower/keep her hair clean, her bedroom's a total bombsite - where did I go wrong??? Sad

You didn’t! Puberty sucks!

Maybe some sort of supplement for her PMT might help. She might be a bit low in something.

Is she year 6? Worried about changing schools, friendship issues, SATs etc? The last year at primary can be tricky with all the emotional and physical changes going on and feeling out of sync with those she has been used to.

Thanks, you two - turned out to be good old puberty hormones mainly, this time. Went home from work yesterday to a completely different child! She was communicative and apologetic about her worrying behaviour the day before, and we had a lovely girly evening watching TV and wearing mud face-packs! Until next month ... Hmm

Bless her. I wouldn't go through puberty again if you paid me Flowers
