8yr old anxiety...

Hi! I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience! My 8yr old is always worried that something is wrong with him, especially at night when I put him to bed. He self checks himself and finds silly little things like a spot and panics over it. He sometime does this during the day too but mostly at night. It's been as bad as him believing he was having a heart attack once!! I've tried staying calm and reassuring him,but we've also tried getting angry and taking things away,it just doesn't help. Eventually he'll forget it and fall asleep, but it happens every night. I'm at my wits end with it,I'm worried about him but can't help getting angry each time,we talk it through with him and tell him he's a healthy boy,he'll agree and then as soon as I go downstairs he calls me back up!
Could it be an attention seeking tactic or does he need to see someone? If I mention a Dr he panics even more!! Any help or advice is much appreciated!

Have you tried reading the book 'huge bag of worries ' with him
There's also The Invisible String and 'what to do when you worry too much'
There are also meditations you can do at bedtime - I've got a book called pants of peace so you incorporate those into the bedtime routine.
