Hi wonder if anyone can help . My son has been undergoing assessments for autism/aspergers and ADHD we have now been told my the pedatrician that she will holding a diagnostic interview with us? Can anyone help or explain as to what this is are we any further to getting an idea of what his diagnoses is or is this just another discussion about him and his needs etc
She has indicated that he ticks lots of boxes across many of the different spectrums but with ADHD coming out more prodominatly

Any advice or help would be good x

Thanks

It may be an ADI (Autism Diagnostic Interview), they are done alongside assessments for the child. If so it's a long q&a session where they ask a lot of questions about the child (past and present) which helps give an overall picture alongside the child based tests. It may take up to 3 hours but it helps the professionals get a good view of behaviours that you as a parent/s will have that they can't see in clinic. It is a very helpful tool (if it is that, you can call and ask!) towards your child's potential diagnosis.

Thank you that's kinda what we thought just seemed strange that for so long they have ignored our concerns and have found excuse after excuse for his behaviours ans traits and now all of a sudden they are interested in what we think of his traits etc be interesting I think to see what they ask lol thanks Lizz

Is your ds having assessments alongside your one? If not what I've said is not right, I assumed he was!
