Anyone know the process of being assessed to see if they should go on anti-depressants?

For DS. Just been referred, after counselling. We will also be attending family therapy.
From what I know, they get seen by a nurse first. How long in general does it take between the counsellor telling us she's referred him, and him seeing the nurse? What happens next?

Sorry to hear your going through a hard time atm. What normally happens is the child will see a nurse then she will decide if he need them and how quickly. Then he might have to see the physiatrist and they normally subscribe them. The waiting list can be anywhere from 2 weeks or two months. Hopefully it will get sort quickly! Good luck to your family.

this is a bit late, but if he is a teenager, only a psychiatrist should prescribe ADs, and it needs to be in conjunction with a talking therapy. the idea with teens is that ADs might lift mood enough to engage in talking therapies. good luck.
