Hi
Has anyone any experience or advice re this; thinking of trying for my DD (10yr) who seems to have anxiety/panic issues/ - she is not herself at all.
Seeing doc today but already mentioning CAMHS.
I am a firm believer in alternative medicines (herbal, ancupuncture, etc) - I know there are child hyponotherapists about so surely this can mean it does work.
Thanks

You will need to find a qualified practitioner who specialises in treating children! As the protocol differs when working with kids.

A practitioner will ask if you have been to the doctor with her, what the prognosis is and how you feel about that. They will also ask what you think the issue is, and what other treatments you have tried.

Do you think you know the cause of the behaviour?

I have treated adults with similar issues and usually is it pretty straightforward - training them how to deal with issues, sometimes helping them to
Inpoint the issues, changing their behaviour so that they can tackle problems or behave in a different/more positive way (if they can't change the situation).

When our DS was struggling with Emetophobia and Generalised Anxiety Disorder, we tried a short course of hypnotherapy, (amongst many other treatments.)

DS found the actual sessions very relaxing, hypnotherapist very calm and understanding. He would remain fairly calm for about an hour afterwards which sometimes helped with his sleep as it was an evening session. However it had no real affect on the Emetophobia, (apparently hard to treat as there are too many triggers), but I think for just generally raised anxiety levels it would certainly be worth a shot or at least do no harm - good luck.
