We finally got our ladies at the weekend, they have settled in superbly and we are totally smitten! The run we have built for them (half the garden, the spoilt blighters) is just plain ole grass (for now anyway!) and I would like to plant some bushes for shelter and interest.
Can people let me know which plants work...ie not scoffed, trashed, or poisonous! Thanks.

Ours had palms in the run which they did not eat but would sit under for shade - -very tropical chooks ours were. They also has´d olive trees too. Oranmental grasses worked too. Good to hide under but would not get eaten.

Grasses sound a good idea, thanks. Not v tropical here up North but have seen tall grasses locally. Best not get pampas grass though as it has a bit of a reputation!?!
Anyone else got some ideas.
V exciting having chooks!

Hi
Don't plant lavender! Our chickens escaped from their part of the garden and all ran off with my newly planted lavender bushes in their beaks, never saw those again!
