Very excited.

Although was very cross at the first muppets who had said they wanted the house. They came to see it and then said they wanted something bigger and on wheels. They knew it wasn't on wheels and knew the measurements so why waste my time coming, etc.

Luckily I had a big reserve list.

So now have to decide what colour to get!

The purple is lovely as is the green

I cant see the pink

thesockmonsteroflurve · 09/02/2009 17:58

I have orange and it is fab.

NutterlyUts · 09/02/2009 18:06

Red is the best eglu color

I am saving for a cube to replace my eglu, but am going to put it in a custom run I think.

TrinityRhino · 09/02/2009 18:10

how many chickens do you keep in that tiny thing?

is a cube bigger?

TrinityRhino · 09/02/2009 18:12

wow, they are tiny and ugly

sorry I shall shut up
we just made a lovely wooden house for them and had a large portion of the garden fenced off

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 09/02/2009 18:40

Trinity - the cube is quite big. I wouldn't have the eglu for mu chickens. I have a 20ftx10ft pen for them and the cube will go in that so they will have laods of room.

I've kept chickens for years and had mumerous wooden houses/arks but I need a new hen house and after a bad year with red mite am going for a cube.

oh that soundds like a better set up
sorry lol
I should keep my nose out anyway
just seems like no room at all for them if that is all you have for them to run in

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 09/02/2009 19:13

I agree - wouldn't keep 10 chickens in a cube and just the run that comes with it. Even with the extensions I don't think its a lot of room, unless they can free range out of the run every day as well. Maybe I spoil my chickens but I like them to have lots of space.

I think the actual cube is similar in floor space to my current house, though not as much head room inside. Which is fine, my current house is so big they manage to jump on top and then take a running jump over the fence. Clipping their wings has no effect. I'm hoping the cube will make it harder.

I wouldn't either
I have a purple cube and eglu and theyre gorgeous

bramblebooks · 14/02/2009 17:16

I have an eglu with 2 girls and am planning to build a walk in run so that I can have a couple more. They free range most of the time but are in a day a week when we're both out of work. ds1 is brilliant at popping back from school on the way to the minder's to let them out for a bit though (and give porridge!)

catinthehat1 · 14/02/2009 17:36

Did my usual scan reading and saw you had sold your HOUSE to buy an Eglu didn't think things were that bad yet.

Off to make opticians appointment.

bronze · 14/02/2009 17:38

I don't know. If my house was as easy to clean.......
