The ASC Stammer Awareness Toolkit – a 12 month fully-funded subscription for all UK schools

Action for Stammering Children (ASC) is the UK charity for children and young people who stammer, their families, and the communities who support them.

Here at ASC, we are regularly contacted by parents and education professionals seeking guidance for improving understanding and support at school for children who stammer. Unfortunately, lack of awareness about stammering in schools can mean children who stammer may experience unhelpful responses and teasing, negative feelings around speaking, and avoidance of certain situations or subjects (resulting in missed opportunities), amongst other challenges.

Support is on hand
We have created an evidence-based resource for primary and secondary schools that arms teachers and support staff with the knowledge and practical tools to help pupils who stammer thrive. We are delighted to offer all UK schools a fully-funded 12-month subscription to the ASC Stammer Awareness Toolkit – helping teachers and support staff create more inclusive classroom environments for pupils who stammer. The Toolkit is an online, interactive e-learning resource developed in consultation with young people who stammer, their parents, education professionals and Speech and Language Therapists.

How can my school sign up to access the Toolkit?
Signing up to the Toolkit is quick and simple. You can let staff at your child’s school know that they just need to go to our website and fill out the short sign-up form: ASC Stammer Awareness Toolkit - Action for Stammering Children

Be sure to also tell them that…

  • There is no limit on the number of teaching staff who can access the Toolkit, per school.
  • Each staff member can work through the Toolkit at their own pace. We appreciate how busy teaching staff are! That’s why we’ve developed the Toolkit so that it can be accessed completely online from school or from home. It’s divided into four, manageable modules and their progress will be saved each time they log out.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch.

Best wishes,
Action for Stammering Children
