Hi, 18 y/o daughter let a friend out of her Vauxhall Adam, and was nipping out to help with the bags, car locked irself, but car still running. EVERYTHING INSIDE, her jacket, her phone, her money and the keys. They are in Telford for a sporting event and she is outside a hotel that is not hers but her friend’s hotel for the night. Friend called the RAC who were supposed to text that phone with an ETA but nothing yet, 30 mins on from initial call.

Any hints, tips, tricks to help her get into her car?

Best to wait for the RAC unless she wants to break a window.

This.👍

If there was a quick way that anyone could do (i.e. not a skilled car thief) it would show the car up as not being very secure.

I locked my keys in the car many moons ago and the RAC got in without causing any damage.

A very long time ago, you used to be able to some cars with remote locking with the spare keys, but bleeping them down a phone and holding the receiving phone at
by the car.

We spent a jolly lunch time at work trying this out. We had a massive car park, then rang up people out of the office in work vans (with spare keys in the office) and were able to unlock vehicles 30 miles away.

I have no idea if this is still possible, but worth a try?

That’s a complete myth.
