Recommendations for a slightly larger car with room for two car seats plus space in between

It's time for a car upgrade! I have a Toyota yaris atm and would like a slightly larger car, I am ideally looking for one that can fit 2 car seats with space for an adult in the middle and a decent sized boot. One we won't outgrow quickly! Struggling with a Google search as it keeps bringing up 7 seaters which is definitely too big for me!

Any recommendations please?

Thank you! :)

Have you looked at the Yaris cross?

I could sit comfortably between the car seats in my Ford Mondeo. It was a brilliant car, very reliable. I miss it. Huge boot too.

Failing that, maybe a Renault Scenic? I also had one of those. They are nice and roomy but I do not miss it. It was constantly breaking down.

@HiMum2boys

my starting point would be looking at the following:
Skoda Karoq
Honda CRV
Toyota RAV 4
Mazda cx5
These are mid size SUVs that arent seven seaters and should be roomy in the back, with good reviews and reliability, and a range of power trains.

I'd start by looking at these four and seeing if they were too tight in the back still and go from there. A smaller SUV wont give you the width you're after.

If you prefer a saloon I think you need to look at a Skoda Octavia or even a superb.A Toyota corolla estate or recent Honda civic might be interesting comparison too.

Most cars these days have a 2.5 seat configuration in the back so make sure you physically test it with your car seats and the adult in the middle .
