I am looking for a new car and don't know where to start! I have driven for many years, and driven many different cars, so I'm not sure why I feel so overwhelmed. I think it's because I've recently divorced and have had so many decisions to make that this is just one too many! 🤣

I currently drive a Kia Picanto which has been OK but has had a few problems in recent years. I am looking for something of a similar size or, if possible, bigger for me and my two dc.

I would like a car that is as reliable as possible and is cost effective to run. So any recommendations would be gratefully received!

I'd really recommend a toyota yaris

Honda Jazz is very reliable and spacious too.

My parents are giving up driving as they are getting old and doddery. They drive a 67 plate fiesta. It's done less than 30k , has been serviced by Ford regularly and is mint condition as been garaged. Is cheap to run and is nippy and would be roomier than a picanto. Motorway value it at 8.5 grand. Absolute bargain

I like the look of the Ford pumas. I’ve found Ford’s reliable but also cheap to repair as you can use non branded generic parts to keep costs down.

My lovely mechanic said “something Japanese” when I asked him (but not a Nissan qashqai apparently!). I ended up with a (much cheaper than £9000!) Honda crv and so far it has been great. Probably bigger than you’d like though.

Thank you all for the recommendations! I will look more into each of those makes/models.

@Mosaic80 the mechanic I go to also really rates Japanese cars, so there must be something in it!

Honda Jazz, Honda Civic, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Auris.

Dont buy any POS Nissan or Euro junk.
