Anyone have this car? If so, how is it? What’s your verdict? Thanks ☺️

We don't have this model but have had various Toyota's over the past 30 years.

You can't ho wrong with a Toyota IMO. Very reliable and generally economical to run. All our cars have driven like a dream.

Ooh. Thanks for the reply, yeah I’m really keen on getting something that’s automatic tbh. I’m fed up of manual. I also wanted something a bit chunkier but not huge so this looks good.

Sorry that should say "Go" not ho although I suppose applicable at this time of year. 😂

We currently have a 74 plate Toyota CHR plug in hybrid. Fabulous car and we run it 99% on the electric - we don't do many long journeys to be fair - and the electricity costs so little.

Compared to so many other brands we always find Toyota's feel really well built and very safe.

Toyota are Japanese. The Japanese are exceptionally good at making cars. Go for it if you're thinking of getting one.

I also rate Toyotas, loved my old Rav4, very nice drive and reliable.
The Yaris is a lovely car to drive, good visibility. 👍

Kitchenbattle · 05/12/2025 12:04

Oh wow thank you all! I will have to go see one now and test drive!! So exciting!

Also agree Toyota very reliable.
we have had Yaris before and really liked them.
we had the Cross as a hire car (partly because I wanted to check it out).
it was higher and chunkier than the normal Yaris - great for us as we live quite rurally.
it was similar to my old beloved Nissan Juke, but hopefully more reliable!

Kitchenbattle · 05/12/2025 12:09

Oh I’m loving this! I’ll be up bright and early to go look at them now! Thanks all!

Toyotas are boring as fuck but absolutely great cars. We have had them the past 14 years and we never have big repair bills or issues with our cars compared to friends driving other brands

Toyota, Honda, Lexus. That is all.

Toyota has a luxury brand; Lexus. They are the same in reliability like a Toyota, but much prettier to look at (also means more pricey).

I think Nissan engines are now made by Renault, which explains a lot

Even if they werent, Nissan are utterly fucking shite.

Cars for people that have zero driving knowledge or aspiration.

What Car has just named the Nissan Juke as the most unreliable car of 2025.

I’m not surprised. We had a Nissan Joke (not a typo) and the automatic gearbox was terrible. It needed a full rebuild after less than 7 k miles so, as it was leased, we rejected it. It was a bloody awful car and, although I can’t walk unaided, I’d sooner be carless than have another Nissan.

Back to @Kitchenbattle original question, we loved the Toyota Yaris Cross when we looked at it, but it was slightly too small for what we needed.

Kitchenbattle · 07/12/2025 16:57

I have had a look and it’s perfect for what I need. So I’m going to go ahead with it!! I’m so excited 😆

I had a Toyota Corolla many years ago and it was a great car. I only replaced it because the boot was too small. My SIL loved her Yaris but it was a hybrid and an automatic and she needed a manual for DN to learn to drive so she now has an Aygo X which she also loves. Toyotas are fantastic cars.

Shah2025 · 02/02/2026 09:22

We’ve driven one — reliable and economical, easy around town.
Not huge inside though, so worth checking space if you’ve got kids or lots of gear.

@Kitchenbattlehow are you finding it?

Jrisix · 02/02/2026 09:29

We have one and have had big problems with the battery. We have to jump start it anytime we don't use the car for a week or two. Even had the battery replaced at the dealership and it still keeps dying.

Otherwise it's great, good visibility and very comfortable to drive especially for me at 5'2 tall. A bit noisy on the motorway.

Wibble128 · 02/02/2026 09:33

@Kitchenbattle Order the smaller wheel rims so that you get more rubber it will make the drive more comfortable and tyres cheaper to replace. We have the 2 wheel drive and can get a spare wheel in the boot and can bin off the glue, you can't with a 4 wheel drive. Driving position is good, but the car is noisy. Heater is quirky, if you run the car in Eco (green screen on dash) it stops heating when stationary. That said we are getting 67+ to the gallon which pleases us. It loves beeping and alarming when it sees a twig in a hedge that is close.

Sadly a well known problem. Some people say fit a 45Ah battery see the longest ever thread on Toyota Owners --- Yaris and Yaris Cross club forum. There are "features" you can turn off to help.
