Hello, we’ve got a 2.5 year old and pregnant with baby #2. Looking for recommendations for a car that will have enough space for 2 ERF seats and good boot space without been huuuuge. Currently drive a Fiesta and don’t want a massive size difference!
thank you 😁

An SUV and a fiesta are pretty different tbh , worlds apart really . You could prob look at crossovers but they’re still considerably bigger

I loved my Sportage when the kids were smaller. Boot was big enough for the buggy and plenty of space for car seats.

bigbaggyblue · 29/11/2025 20:11

@bugalugs45oh yes they are but you can get a smaller SUV or there’s so massive ones. I’m after one on the smaller end of the scale!

What in particular means you would like an SUV?

pocklechip · 29/11/2025 20:16

Why do you want an SUV if you don’t want something that feels bigger? We’ve stuck with hatchbacks, comfortable to drive, look good, cheaper to run, easy to park and it’s been plenty of room for the family paraphernalia and latterly teens. The only time we struggle is when we holiday 2 weeks long haul, but we work around it! No need for an SUV just for that.

bigbaggyblue · 29/11/2025 21:57

@pocklechipwhat car do you have? I just like the height of a suv as well as the potential for space

Audi A3 now. Space for what exactly? Mine are teens now, as I say only time space is an issue is 2 week+ holidays but we can work around that easily enough. We had a Ford focus in the days of push chairs and prams, again no issue.

pocklechip · 29/11/2025 22:16

But if you want the height of an SUV without the bulky size of an SUV something like a Ford puma or Audi Q2 might do the job, they’re discontinuing the Q2 next year though.

Dacia Duster!

Timeforabitofpeace · 29/11/2025 23:10

A puma is a first but taller. It has a double boot, I think.

bigbaggyblue · 30/11/2025 08:20

@ConstitutionHillthis could fit the bill!!

@pocklechip my dads got a puma and sadly not enough room for erf car seat with enough space for legroom for both kid and passenger in the front as partners 6 ft 2

Id skip the SUV and get an estate! Loads of space, doesn't feel massive to drive, ours is 4 wheel drive, comfortable.

ETA that we have had two ERF seats in our estate (A6) - Axkid minikid 2 and BeSafe stretch. And there is plenty of space up front. Skoda superbs are meant to be great for space in the rear passenger area.
