Hiya, I brought myself a 2013 adam jam 1.2 yesterday. I drove it home from the garage fine with no issues at all. I've just got out to use it and the engine won't turn on. The only way to describe the noise it's make is like a automatic shot gun. I've called the garage I purchased it from and they said someone will call me back.

Is this a common problem with the car or just bad luck?

Bad luck I'd say. Second hand cars can sit around for a while before they sell. Likely just got a flat battery

FedUpToTheBackTooth · 30/10/2025 16:03

Could you have run the battery down some how?

Happysinglemum72 · 30/10/2025 19:47

In my opinion the car you bought has a flat battery. Maybe you left an interior light on when you brought it home? Just a thought.

Battery is likely dead and needs replacing. Second hand cars sit not running for so long it happens. You should have a 3 month or mileage warrenty

Warranty?

Same happened to us. Flat battery from sitting in the car yard. It's been a brilliant car after changing the battery.

A help hint 😆
Def a sounds like a flat battery though. Get a jump start

Shot gun noise means the battery is dead. Just needs a good charge or maybe a new battery, which the dealer will sort for you. Not a major issue, and common if a car has been sitting at the dealership and not been used a lot.
