Renault Clio key fault

I drove my car this morning and when I got out and tried to lock the car and key wouldn’t lock. So I go back in the car and tried to start my car, this then wouldn’t work. The car didn’t come on. My first thought was my battery had died in the key so I changed that and it still didn’t work. I’ve seen a locksmith which checked the key and said the battery is ok and the key is sending a signal however it won’t work. Also this is my spare so I can’t try another key as the original has the chip missing, can anyone help on what I can do to try and get my car started as a new key is £400+ and can take 8 weeks to come an I can’t even tow my car as the steering lock is on. Help

Sounds like you need to have it recovered to a garage to have it diagnosed. If the key is working as the locksmith says then a new key won’t be the answer. Maybe there’s a key relearn procedure or maybe there’s a module that’s died. Brace yourself for it becoming uneconomical to repair and then you can celebrate if it’s not.
