Didn't get charged to get car bulb changed

To get the daytime headlight bulb changed in my car means it has to go up on the ramp. From what I've seen on YouTube it requires removing a few parts, so maybe 20 min job min. I was charged £40 before. Not an issue. This time I went in and wasn't charged. Same garage and I only used it once before.

I felt really weird because it's halfords so major garage. They tried to sell me new tyres as well, annoyingly.

However now that bulb isn't working, less then 3 days after it was changed.. bugger.

Am I missing something? I just find the situation weird, especially as the bulb is no longer working. I don't feel happy going back to the garage but has anyone had a car light bulb stop working so quickly and know what the issue is?

I really don't have time to go to garages. My local one couldn't work the lights the last time I was there (I have an oldish car and it's not luxury). So I'm a bit limited with childcare pick up etc. plus work.

As described in the post the other local mechanic seemed a bit clueless.

I used my full lights during the day. The bulbs are always going at different times. Just recently had the other one changed with my mot
