Bought a Panda 4WD from a car dealer for £2,400 in April. Cam belt snapped last week. Do we have any come back?

Did you check when it was due? When it was last done? These are things you should check when purchasing a car. What warranty do you have?

Not unless they specifically said that they'd replaced the cam belt. They have a shelf life and it's recommended you replace them after (roughly) 60,000 miles. What's the mileage on the vehicle?

catbathat · 19/07/2025 19:41

Did you ask when it was last change d when you bought it.

SleepingisanArt · 19/07/2025 19:43

If the car is low mileage it's recommended to change the belt after 5 years (you may never get to 60,000 if you only drive round town in it.....)

What mileage was the car on?

Unless it came with either some kind of comprehensive warranty or written proof that it had just been changed then not a chance. The good news is that some of the engines fitted to Pandas are non-interference and so it’s just a case of timing the engine up and replacing the belt. Which engine is in it?
