Anyone own a Skoda?

Can anyone confirm how you open the boot on the Skoda Kamiq?

it only seems to open using the button on the key fob every time.

I would expect that once the doors are unlocked, you should be able to open it using the button, but it doesn’t seem to work. Not sure if it’s a setting or if it’s just faulty….

We have an old Skoda. You open the boot by lifting the Skoda logo.
If you didn't know this it looks like there's no manual way to open it.
Not sure if it's the same with newer models.

Yeah there’s a button under the logo but it doesn’t do anything - as if the car is locked. Only way to open it is by pressing the button on the key fob. Feels wrong to me, like the switch is broken.

I have a kodiaq. (69 plate) My boot opens with a touch sensitive button just above the number plate recessed under a lip which holds the number plate lights.
My citigo (19 plate) boot only opened using the button if the entire car was unlocked - either by double clicking the fob or unlocking the car by opening the drivers door. Otherwise it only opened using the fob button.

can you check the manual for your specific model? Think they are all online now.

Yeah I did have a look at the manual but it’s not totally clear.

It also seems that the back doors won’t always open. I can’t work out if this is the design or a fault.

my last car was very simple - press the button to unlock all doors, which remain openable until you lock it again. This one seems to require a complicated sequence of button presses and opening/closing the driver’s door which I can’t work out.

Might be worth taking it back to garage you purchased it from, or mentioning it when it’s next in for a service.

a quick google says you have foot assistance opening on the boot - does that work? If not I would seek a mechanics advice, purely because once one thing starts to fail then other bits seem to also fail electronically. It was a cascade effect on my old roomster as the wiring loom seemed to fail gradually from the rear sensors and eventually the front electric windows went.

The boot door is probably very heavy (mine is and it’s a similar size car) I find it hard if I open it manually - but it’s entirely my fault as I’m tiny and find it hard to lift up the lid. To onlookers it looks like the boot is sticking, it’s not, it’s because I’m not tall or muscular!

Press the 'unlock' button twice on your fob to unlock all doors. Pressing it only once only unlocks drivers door. Make sure your auto lock button is off inside the car

Legend! Thank you! Press it twice, of course 😂

what’s the auto lock button? There’s no setting for locks on my screen inside the car

That's how the locks on my Karoq work. To open the petrol cap also requires all the doors to be unlocked.

I’ve got a kamiq and it sound like your may have a fault as my boot allows me to open it when the car is unlocked without and fob interaction

chocopuffs · 11/08/2025 06:30

Sorry a bit late to this @carolinesaltbut have you tried looking at the settings under ‘car’ in your infotainment system? Mine allowed me to reconfigure how the doors unlocked on the first click of the fob, as initially mine was only unlocking the front two doors on the first click.
