Intermittent chirping on 2 hour journey to funeral

I am not driving my car but on 2 hour journey (now) going to family funeral tomorrow. 3 adults 3 kids.
Car feels OK- driving smoothly - but occasionally chirruping mostly on bumpy stretches and just under 40mph.
Son in law good driver but prob accelerating and deceleration more than I do.
I'd be grateful for any experience/advice.

Probably an obvious question, but is it definitely coming from the car? Not from some electronic device somewhere in the car? I only ask because I was driven mad by a kids toy that had been put in the glove box which vibrated and sounded like the tyre rubbing on the passenger side intermittently 🤦🏻

I initially thought the same @AndSoFinally because I'm sure I remember a similar noise some time ago that turned out to be luggage related.
Unfortunately it does seem to be the car this time.

It’s not the seat belt reminder is it? Say, if you have a heavy bag on a seat so it thinks a person is sat there, or of a kid in the back has their belt plugged in to the middle belt holder rather than the outer seat one?
No warning lights on the dash? Are your lights off?

Or does it sound like it’s coming from the engine? Could be a belt or the suspension maybe?

HarrietSchulenberg · 29/05/2025 17:27

By "chirping" do you mean an electronic sound, like a smoke alarm when the batteries go? How audible is it? Galaxys have a secondary alarm under the passenger wheel arch. Could it be a fault with that?

RainbowLife · 29/05/2025 20:33

It's not a beep eg alarm or reminder it's a squeak that sounds like a chirrup - sort of rusty spring noise but not exactly.

Seemed to disappear going at a steady speed on a smooth road but very noticeable on any bumps lumps twists and turns.
